A penalty as time runs out cost the Aussies a chance to go into extra time and have a chance to go to the Quarter Finals!
Great effort by the Aussies! You have to hand it to Italy for hanging there to the end and giving them a chance to win.
Probably the irony of it all was the penalty was award against the star defender of the world Lucas Neill.
Oh well, I guess now our thoughts turn to the Asian Cup! You have to give it to the Football Federation of Australia for getting us into the Asian Confederation so that there is something to come between now and the next World Cup campaign.
Congratulations to all the players. They did the country proud. Thanks to Guus Hiddink. He took us to places where we feared to travel too.
Oh well, lets move onward and upward and know that we are as good as anyone in the world and we should bow our head to no one!
