Cam: It’s a horse - But where’s the Podcast?
Its the First Tuesday in November, which in Australia and particularly Melbourne, means Melbourne Cup Day and the "Race that stops a Nation". Makybe Diva has just won for the 3rd time in a row, becoming the first horse to do so. Cameron Reilly (co-founder of the Podcast Networks(TPN)) thoughts:
It’s a horse (Cameron Reilly):
It’s a horse. Horses can run fast. Get the hell over it….
Cam, to some degree your correct and in the end it is just a horse and it is just a race, but it is one that is followed all over the Nation and in different parts of the world (not sure all the International horses this year, but definitely a Japanese and an Irish horse competed).
This leads me to a question for Cam. Where is the Racing Podcast on TPN? I would have thought its a perfect audience for this medium. If you were able to get a host or two of note (or at least seemed of note), surely you could build a nice little audience. Over 110,000 people went to the cup today and the same sort of numbers went on Saturday (and probably similar numbers for the races Thursday as well), not to mention the number of punters at home. The crowd is getting younger and younger and as such, I am sure plenty of white Ear buds in ears on the way to and home from the track.
The only problem I could see with it is the timing aspect. I am no racing expert, but I believe that the information need to do a show comes out to close to race day and so this might effect the ability to do the cast. On another note though, being time shift audio, it could be waiting for the punter when they woke in the morning ready for the trip to the track.
Just a thought, what do you think? Any interest in a Racing Podcast?
Enjoy
